Jean-François DEBOURG

New winemaker of Beaujolais 

Jean-François Debourg 's Winery (in the Pierres Dorées du Beaujolais) has existed since 1850 and has been passed down from father to son. Initially covering about 40 hectares, Winery currently covers about 20 hectares. Until 2016, the grapes from the cleanly worked vines were either brought to the cooperative cellar or sold to local winegrowers (and this is still the case for about 9 hectares). In the long term, depending on the commercial development, Jean-François Debourg will decide to recover all or part of the grapes or even sell some of them. 2016, a change of profession for Jean-François Debourg as he becomes winemaker and not only a winegrower (this is his father's pride and joy!). A chance meeting with François Ecot (L'insolent in Burgundy) triggered a change of heart and the latter took him under his wing to teach him the rudiments of natural wine making. Since 2016, Winery has been in conversion to organic farming and all the vines will be certified in 2021.

Wines without added sulphite!

Jean-François is not only winemaker, he is also a bricklayer (he built his cellar and storage). A winemaker nature full of energy, ideas and who runs at 100 km/h. He discovers his profession, tries out many things, changes, moves, modifies, he is in a state of ebullition. Several cuvées were created, most of them being parcels on different soils. We particularly appreciated the finesse of Croix Haty, a red wine with no added sulphite, perfect for accompanying poultry, for example. We can tell you that things are going to be pulsating in Saint-Germain Nuelles.
