Bruno Rochard is a happy, welcoming and smiling winemaker from Angers! His wines are truly in his image: natural, precise, straightforward wines with a lot of freshness, which makes most of them very easy to drink.
The Winery of Mirebeau
In the late 1990s, Bruno Rochard decided to take over the family Winery on which his father and grandfather worked before him. Until then, the work had been done in a conventional manner. Winery of Mirebeau is certified organic since 2009. A lot of work has been undertaken to restore the balance of the soils and understand their complexity. The vineyards are located in the famous Layon Valleyjust above the river, a magnificent setting in the heart of the Loire Valley. Half of the 6.5 ha is composed of Chenin and for the other, red with a distribution of 2 ha in Cabernet Francand 1.30 ha of GrolleauPart of which is made up of century-old vines.
Organic wines that respect nature
His priority will be to respect the living and the mineral in order to give this Winery all the energy it deserves. Certified organic in the vineyard, Bruno Rochard also practices biodynamics (preparations and herbal teas). The vinifications are, of course, carried out without any additions (neither yeast, nor chaptalisation,...). Depending on the potential of the grapes, the vinification can take place in vats. If this is the case, we find wines without added sulphite. Bottling and racking (dates chosen according to the lunar calendar) can be done - not systematically - with a small dose of sulphites (from 1 to 3 g/hl).
We went back to see Bruno Rochard in January 2022 to taste his organic wines from the 2020 and 2021 vintages. A pure pleasure and a wonderful moment of sharing! We can only encourage you to taste these wines if you have not already done so.
