We're talking to you about his Winery
When we talk about winemaker-artisan, we understand better the qualifiers of typical, personalized and complex wines. This is the case of Jean-Claude Lapalu and his Beaujolais. Jean-Claude offers extraordinary vintages to be discovered, particularly his "des Fous", "Croix des Rameaux" or his famous Beaujolais Nouveau. At the head of 12 hectares of granite soil at the foot of Mont Brouilly, he very quickly decided to work in his own way, under the influence of Jules Chauvet, oenologist and precursor of "natural" wines. The 8 plots of old Gamay vines (up to 70 years old) naturally give lower yields and have particular characteristics depending on the soils and their location. | Jean-Claude further reduces the yields by severely sorting the harvest to one third. The juices are not filtered and are rich in taste, intensity and length. Carbonic and semi-carbonic maceration bring freshness and crispness to the various cuvées, which are all fermented in stainless steel tanks. The more or less long maturing process underlines the beautiful subtlety of these unusual wines, all in power and finesse. |
