We're talking to you about his Winery
Liv Vincendeau, based in Rochefort sur Loire on the Angevin coast, is a young Winemaker in the spirit of Mark Angeli, René Mosse or Jo Pithon. Born in Germany, Liv went to study in England and Strasbourg. She arrived in Anjou in 2000 on a viticulture-oenology course, and has been married and rooted there ever since! She created her Winery in 2014 by taking over more than seven hectares of land including 4 hectares of vines located on the Corniche Angevine (classified site), a corner of paradise on the heights of Rochefort sur Loire. Half of it was planted with chenin blanc, the native Grape variety . Since then a parcel of grolleau Noir has arrived. From the very first day, Liv Vincendeau chose to cultivate her vines and make her wines according to the rules of organic farming (Ecocert certified). She is the one who says "I was brought up this way, it's obvious! ». The terroir is of a formidable character, very stony = mineral : green & purple schist, spilite, phtannite, quartz...The yields are low, maximum 35 hectolitres per hectare or less, depending on the age of the vines. |
Liv has undertaken a programme of vineyard planting to rejuvenate the vineyard, while preserving the most beautiful old plots. Her apprenticeship and her first experiences in viticulture, oenology and commerce allow her to manage her Winery herself, in a careful, meticulous & demanding way the work in the vineyards, the cellar and other "services". A few faithful seasonal workers hired locally complete the Winery team during the high seasons (harvesting, pruning, disbudding, packaging), as well as the precious help of his family. One of Liv's specialities is Crémant de Loire, which she masters perfectly and which has made her known in Germany, her country of origin. |
