Winery la Borde – Jura - Pupillin
A Winery a Passion for the Jura Terroir
Founded in 2003 by Julien Maréschal, Winery la Borde is a Winery nestled in Pupillin, at the heart of the Arbois-Pupillin appellation. Julien, a trained oenologist, chose to settle in this exceptional terroir, where his 5 hectares of vineyards are terraced at altitudes ranging from 300 to 550 meters. The Winery now renowned for its natural, precise, and mineral-driven wines, which reflect the full richness of Pupillin’s marl and limestone soils.
A Unique Terroir: Pupillin, the Capital of Poulsard
The Winery la Borde cultivates the Jura’s iconic grape varieties: Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir. The south-facing, steeply sloped vineyards benefit from stony, clay-limestone soil, ideal for producing wines with great minerality and lovely freshness. Julien Maréschal cultivates his vineyards using organic farming methods (Ecocert-certified since 2015) and biodynamic practices to preserve the natural balance of the soil and the distinctive character of the grape varieties.
Natural and Expressive Wines
The Winery la Borde is known for its natural, low-intervention winemaking approach. The wines are made without additives, using native yeasts, and often without added sulfur. The wines are aged in barrels or large casks to preserve the pure expression of the terroir. Julien Maréschal produces unfiltered and unfined wines to ensure maximum authenticity and complexity.
