More about Mas del Périé

Who is Fabien Jouves?

Fabien Jouves ' approach to his Mas del Périé - in Trespoux, near Cahors - is more than healthy, the vines are beautiful, the landscape is magnificent. One still wonders how the others manage to make it, let's say... not very good. It's also a desolation for Fabien who would so much like the Cahors appellation to regain its golden coat of arms. Our only son, after a few years of oenological studies, returned to the family Winery in 2006. Doing well, doing better, moving forward, understanding. Having fallen in love with the wines of Eric Pfifferling (Winery l'Anglore) and his Tavel in particular, he has since discovered the family of natural wines. His work at Winery has evolved in this direction in the last few years, and luckily it is not too complicated either to take over the vines - never chemically bludgeoned by the old ones -, or in the management of the vineyard work with already a Bio-dynamic certification...

With the help of the father who looks at his son, his eyes sparkling with pride! His Winery is divided up into several corners on the outskirts of the village, never very far away. This division is also due to the different terroirs and soil compositions, sometimes red clay, sometimes limestone, sometimes stony areas. The cuvées are named after the different localities: Escures, les Acacias,... and la Pièce, very old vines, Fabien Jouves' darlings. You have to admit, these vines are quite impressive!

Which grape varieties does Fabien Jouves grow?

Fabien Jouves mainly grows grape varieties typical of the Cahors region, including :

  • Malbec (also known as Côt), Grape variety emblematic of Cahors, makes up the majority of its parcels.
  • Tannat, a robust Grape variety often used to bring structure and longevity to wines.
  • Jurançon Noir, a rare Grape variety from the South-West, which Fabien uses for its ability to bring finesse and complexity.
