Gramenon : from Michèle Aubéry to Maxime-François Laurent
Purity being the always unattainable and utopian goal of history, we strive to express the terroir and the grapes as closely as possible, while avoiding betraying them, by adapting ourselves as best we can to the effects of the vintage," explains Michèle Aubéry. What is the biodynamic approach of Winery Gramenon?Winery Gramenon has been practicing biodynamic viticulture since 2007, reflecting its commitment to farming that respects the environment and nature. The vines benefit from biodynamic preparations, as well as humus composted directly by Winery. Organic farming (AB) certification was obtained in 2010, guaranteeing that the wines are produced without the use of synthetic chemicals. Harvesting is carried out by hand, with a rigorous selection of bunches to ensure low yields, thus promoting quality. In the cellar, Winery adds no chemicals to the wine, vinifying with little or no sulfur. Some emblematic cuvées, such as "A Pascal S." or "La Mémé", are made without adding any sulfur (SO2). What's more, no filtration or fining is carried out, preserving all the richness and structure of the wines. After the accidental death of Philippe Laurent in 1999, Michèle Aubéry continued to manage Winery on her own, before her son, Maxime-François Laurent, gradually took over. |
What role did Maxime-François Laurent play in the development of Winery Gramenon?Maxime-François Laurent, son of Michèle Aubéry, joined Winery Gramenon in 2006, bringing new impetus to the family's Winery . Not only is he fully committed to managing the vineyard, but he is also developing a small wine merchant business. In 2007, Winery expanded with the acquisition of a further 5.5 hectares on the high plateau between Valréas and Vinsobre, enriching the diversity of the terroirs cultivated. Today, Maxime-François has taken over the reins of Winery Gramenon, following Michèle's retirement, and continues the Winery philosophy, rooted in respect for nature and the quest for authentic wines.
