Loire Valley
From the Atlantic to the Central region, the vineyards of the Loire are very vast. Soils of shale, silica, chalk (tuffeau) or clay, a climate evolving from mild oceanic to rigorous continental, one can understand its great diversity. The same grape varieties can be found in the sixty or so appellations: cabernet, gamay, pinot noir, pineau d'Aunis, côt, melon, sauvignon, chardonnay, chenin, romorantin... Some whites are racy, with great ageing potential, dry, semi-dry, mellow and effervescent, but also simpler in terms of freshness and lightness. The reds have a beautiful and varied range, fresh, fruity, crunchy and digestible.
