Winery Marcel RICHAUD

Marcel Richaud is a winemaker driven by constant reflection, where every decision is matured with a precise objective in mind: to show ever greater respect for the grapes and the exceptional terroir of Cairanne, in the Rhône Valley. Winery Marcel Richaud was born in the late 1960s, at a time when grapes were sent directly to the Cairanne cooperative winery, as was common practice in this region. However, everything changed when young Marcel took over the reins of the family Winery in 1974, when he was just 17. From the outset, his ambition was clear: to break away from the cooperative and vinify his own cuvées, selling them in bottles under the Winery name. A daring idea for the time, but one that already demonstrated his pioneering spirit.

Always striving to improve, Marcel Richaud doesn't hesitate to take risks and experiment. In 1987, he acquired 3 hectares on the magnificent "Ebrescade" terroir, a renowned Cairanne climate, and it was then that his natural wines began to attract the attention of wine lovers. His approach to natural wine, with no inputs or artifice, resonates with the aspirations of many enthusiasts. Influential encounters punctuated his career, notably that of Marcel Lapierre, an emblematic figure of natural wines in Morgon in the Beaujolais region, and Yann Rohel, who shared his vision of authentic, sincere wine. These exchanges marked a turning point in Marcel's career, reinforcing his conviction to work in harmony with nature and with scrupulous respect for the fruit.

The organic wines of Marcel Richaud 

All the wines of Winery Marcel Richaud are certified organic. The raw material is respected from beginning to end, it is the basis of everything for Marcel: the grapes are harvested by a team of 30 people with grapes of maximum maturity, the sorting is severe to obtain an average yield of 35 ha/hl.

Finally, Winery Marcel Richaud is a complete and loyal team. And we must also pay a warm tribute to his wife Marie (who sadly passed away too soon in 2015). Marcel is slowly but surely stepping down to make way for his son Thomas and one of his daughters, Claire. We ' re delighted that the Richaud spirit continues!
