| Henri Milan tells us: “Wine isn’t about technique; it’s about complementing what the vineyard offers us. The vineyard provides us with fruit, and no machine, no input, and no process is essential.” The Winery in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence has a long history. His grandfather, Robert Milan, purchased the property in 1956. In 1958, following sound advice, he planted vines. After a few years in which the results fell short of his expectations, he decided to build a winemaking cellar. The Winery which has used zero chemical fertilizers since 1987!—was later taken over by his son, Henri, who officially became winemaker 1988. The hard work paid off: in 1992, the Winery wines Winery stocked at Lafayette Gourmet in Paris. A few years of trial and error, self-reflection, and uncertainty led to a meeting in 1996 with two key figures in the history of Winery Milan Winery . | Claude Bourguignon, an agrobiologist specializing in soils, would not only reassure him that this terroir was blessed by the gods but also confirm that soil management and organic farming are essential to bringing out the terroir’s full potential. Claude Courtois (Le Cailloux du Paradis) would share with him his profound insights on wine, nature, soils, and winemaking. In 2007, the Winery voluntarily Winery the Baux-de-Provence AOC to produce increasingly vibrant wines, including certain sulfite-free cuvées in both red and white. The 16 hectares are certified organic by Qualité France, and the wines are crafted in the truest “natural” spirit. Since 2011, Théophile, the son, and Emmanuelle, the daughter, have been supporting their father, bringing youthful energy and fresh ideas to the business. |
