We're telling you about their Winery
| The Les Bruyères vineyard, run by David Reynaud and his mother, covers 20 hectares, mainly in AOC Crozes Hermitage, with a yield of 35 hectoliters, on clay-limestone terraces and draining soil with detrital pebbles. Certified by Ecocert, the vines are hand-harvested for disbudding, lifting, green harvesting and removal of internodes, as well as for the autumn harvest, when the grapes are sorted by cutting and table at reception. The Reynauds offer several versions of their red and white "Crozes-Hermitage", as well as white Viognier, rosé, red Syrah and Merlot vins de pays from the Rhone hills. Convinced of the quality of their work, and adhering to the same philosophy, Max and Maryline Mathais, friends and neighbors, have been bringing their grapes from nearly 8 ha of organically grown Crozes-Hermitage to the winery since the 2009 harvest. The history of Winery Les Bruyères is intertwined with that of the Serret family and then the Reynaud family, a history marked by the memory of two great-grandfathers. One built the foundations of the estate, planting a few vines, while the other moved his roller press from farm to farm. Then, after the war, came Georges Reynaud, the grandfather who pioneered the planting of kiwifruit in the Rhône Valley. | He also considerably developed the cultivation of the vine, up to 7 ha, delivering his harvest to the cooperative cellar in Tain-l'Hermitage, passionate about the image to be given to the "Crozes-Hermitage". In 1988, in order to perpetuate a beautiful working tool, the Winery was taken over by the daughter-in-law, Marceline Reynaud. Under her guidance, the vines were restructured and trellised in order to mechanize the vineyard. She contributes to the expansion of the vineyard, up to 12ha, which is completed by apricot tree plantations. In 2000, her son David joined her on the estate. With a BTA in viti-oenology, he decided to write a new page in the history of Winery by opting for organic farming. He buys a few plots of land, replants and gradually converts the farm to biodynamics. David Reynaud realized his great project in 2003: the vinification and marketing of his own harvest in a brand new complex that uses gravity in the respect of a demanding work. This was the birth of " Winery Les Bruyères". |
