France Info survey on pesticide residues in wine

Up to fifteen different pesticide residues were found in some Bordeaux bottles, according to the conclusions of a laboratory we commissioned.

The gates of an old château, vineyards as far as the eye can see, an oak barrel... When you buy a bottle of Bordeaux wine, the label immerses you in the wonderful world of the wine terroir. But what does it tell you about the composition of the wine you are going to drink? Not much. Apart from the alcohol content and a vague indication of the presence of sulphites, you will not be able to read the complete list of ingredients or the nutritional values of the wine. However, this sweet nectar, to be consumed in moderation, does not only contain grapes... far from it.

To find out more, we had ten bottles of wine analysed, choosing the same geographical area - they are all produced within a radius of 50 km around Bordeaux - and the same year of production, 2016. In our basket:white and red. Conventional, organic and "natural wine", an informal approach that aims to do without synthetic pesticides and additives as much as possible. The bill is between 4 and 17 euros per bottle. A few days after we went shopping, the Dubernet laboratory, specialized in oenology and located in the Aude, sent us the results of the analyses. Here is what we discovered.
