How to choose your blanc de blancs champagne
What is a blanc de blancs champagne?
A vin blanc de blancs is a sparkling wine made exclusively from Grape variety white grapes. Chardonnay is generally used, but other white grape varieties such as : Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Petit Meslier and Arbane.
What's more, the specifications also authorize the blending of white grape varieties. As a result, you'll be able to find blanc de blancs champagnes and crémants.
We love it for its finesse and liveliness.
What's the difference between a white of whites and a white of blacks?
The first major difference between them is the grapes. For a blanc de blancs, only white grapes are used. Blanc de noirs, on the other hand, is made exclusively from black grapes such as Pinot noir and Pinot Meunier.
What's more, they are differentiated by their taste. One is lively and floral. The blanc de noirs, on the other hand, is characterized by its vinous aspect. It is powerful and full-bodied. It reveals notes of red fruit, and if aged, of honey and spices.
Finally, the main difference between the two lies in the types of grapes used to make them, which greatly influences their flavor profile and style. Sparkling wine made exclusively from white grapes is lighter and fresher, while blanc de noirs is often richer and more complex.
How to accompany blanc de blancs champagne?
It goes perfectly with seafood such as scallops, shellfish or smoked salmon. Its fresh, mineral character goes well with this type of pairing.
But it's also ideal as an aperitif with puff pastries, canapés and amuses bouches. The bubble cleans the mouth and gives lightness to the different flavors of the amuse bouche. Whether it's a vegetable, cheese, fish or meat dish, you'll enjoy a very pleasant mouthfeel.
