We're telling you about their Winery
The Winery Ledogar is located in the Languedoc, in Ferrals les Corbières, on the terroir of Boutenac. It was founded by the family of the same name, and is currently run by the two brothers Mathieu and Xavier Ledogar. In less than 20 years, this Winery has become one of the great Languedoc wines and, in our opinion, one of the greatest in France! For generations, this family has been working in the vineyard but it was Xavier and his father André who bought a cellar in 1998, the year of their first vinification. The vineyard now covers 19 hectares and has been run under organic farming since 2006 (Ecocert control). What a long way we have come since then... The Winery is 85% located in the Corbières appellation area. Since 2004, the vines have been worked in a natural way: treatments based on herbal teas, powdered sulphur, clay and rock powder, application of bio-dynamic preparations and tilling of the surface soil. To note this beautiful particularity of Winery Ledogar : two thirds of the property are composed of carignan and grenache aged between 60 and 130 years ! |
The harvest is manual, with grapes sorted and transported in crates or small skips so as not to alter the berries. The vinification is traditional, destemmed or not depending on the vintage. The rest is classic for us and our estates: indigenous yeasts, no additives except a little sulphite at bottling (adjustment to 25 mg/l.) There is a cuvée without added sulphite which is simply called "Tout Nature". We know Xavier well, a little less Mathieu, who hides more easily at Winery. Xavier, on the other hand, comes very often in the living rooms to show his smile and make his beautiful magic accent heard! In 2018, another brother, Benoit, arrived at Winery to take care of all the "next door" winemakers, a sort of handyman, renovating the cellar and winery, planting trees and, when he has time, helping out in the vineyards. |
