We're talking to you about his Winery
After 10 years as a salaried agricultural worker in the vineyards, but not only, Elise Hamant took over " Les Vignes de l'Atrie " in September 2017! These are the only vineyards in the commune of Aizenay, 4 hectares farmed organically with a wide variety of grape varieties: grolleau gris and chardonnay for the whites; gamay, grolleau noir, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon for the reds. Elise Hamant has chosen to introduce sheep for a few months in winter. She likes the idea of linking plants and animals; the presence of sheep brings a different kind of energy to the vines, and their droppings nourish the soil, leaving the grass well shaven for the start of spring. | For the moment, Elise works the soil with a tractor but aspires to do so soon with her workhorse. With the same philosophy, Elise uses plants on a daily basis to accompany her vines: nettle and comfrey liquid manure to activate the life of the soil in spring, horsetail decoction to reduce the pressure of diseases, yarrow to refresh during hot weather... and also biodynamic preparations. She follows the lunar calendar very closely to feel a strong bond with her vines. Manual harvesting, natural vinification without added sulphites (or micro doses if necessary). The whole team was under Elise's discreet charm and of course also her first vintage. |
