We're talking to you about his Winery
Nicolas Réau works well, and the result is more than convincing. His wines, in the Anjou appellation, are of a rather rare typicity, they are from here and from nowhere else. The Cabernet Francs are precise, generous in flavours, and the Chenins combine power and straightforwardness. There is no doubt that these are natural wines to be classified as first category Loire wines. Heavy stuff! And what a journey! Initially turned towards music and the piano, Nicolas clings on, but breaking through in this environment is not easy. Then the question of a change of course arises. He is praised for the merits of a wine-producing formation, in the form of a BTS. As a child, he tasted the Cabernet Francs served by his grandfather at lunchtime and plunged into the world without a hitch. The long-awaited revelation! In order to better refine his tastes and desires, he works in a few areas. His choice has been made, he wants to turn to organic farming, to let nature do its work. | NO to the brutality of machines at the grape harvest, but a big YES to the hands of men! No chemistry. No sulfur in the reds and less in the whites. We have made room for Authenticity, for the Terroir. We find Nicolas Réau in the north of the Deux-Sèvres, not far from Thouars, 30 minutes south of Saumur. A Winery of a little over 7 hectares located at the geological crossroads of the Armorican massifs, the central region and the Paris basin. One of the plots is even on a fault. A diversified and complex soil, to be found in the bottle with peppery and floral notes. Tannins too. Due to the grapes harvested before they were over-ripe, then thanks to long macerations sometimes in buried Georgian amphoras. |
