We're talking to you about his Winery
Generous like Pierre-Nicolas Massotte, the range of Clos Massotte's vintages is wide with whites from white and grey Grenache or, more original, from Muscat d'Alexandrie, and reds from Syrah, Grenache Noir, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Pierre-Nicolas was able to bring freshness, minerality and originality to the wine by vinification without flour or inputs, to be distinguished today from the Ecocert label (organic wine). Often classified in Vin de France, the vintages give gourmet, juicy and complex wines. We have known Pierre-Nicolas Massotte since the 2003 vintage when he was still working at his father's Winery and we have seen his work evolve towards more naturalness and digestibility. A long journey for this young winemaker full of enthusiasm, passion and freedom in his approach to winemaking. | Of the 40 hectares of the family Winery , Pierre-Nicolas has "seized" a little more than 7 hectares which he has been managing since 2004 in his own way. More respectful, more natural and more...crazy! The sun is shining brightly on the plain of this Roussillon landlocked in the Aspres to Rivesaltes chain and the wines are still, at times, too powerful. Yields are low (14 hl/ha) on vines over 60 years old. Using practically no sulphur throughout its production, its wines can be softened and improved in the conditions appropriate for natural wines. |
