Denavolo / La Biancara / Pacina: Italy versione naturale!
From Emilia-Romagna to Tuscany, Italy is full of exciting estates and winemakers. Let's go and meet Denavolo, La Biancara and Pacina!
DENAVOLO
It is in the foothills of the Apennines, between 350 and 600 metres above sea level, that Giulio Armani cultivates a little over 5 hectares. Since 2006, he has relied on a vineyard with a very hot and dry climate (rarely less than 10°) that he has managed to master and understand through observation. In his catalogue, he only produces white wines from maceration, favouring local grape varieties such as ortugo, malvasia and trebbiano. Organic, good, Emilia Romagna at its best!

LA BIANCARA
Angiolino Maule started his professional life as a pizzaiolo for a dozen years! Obviously with some fame. But how does one move on to vineyards and natural wines? Anyway, thanks to his work and savings, Angiolino bought about 6 hectares in the Gambellara hills, in the hamlet of Biancara at the end of the 1980s. To put it in perspective, this is roughly between Verona to the west and Vicenza to the east! We are therefore in the very north of the Italian boot. Today, Winery covers 11 hectares. The work is done in family, with his wife Rosamaria and his elder sons Francesco and Alessandro.

PACINA
This is a countryside and a land that has never ceased to live in natural biodiversity. Pacina is situated at an average altitude of 300m, set against the Chianti mountains, protected from the northern winds. The Winery taken over in 1992 by Giovanna Tiezzi (heiress) and Stéphano Borsa, her husband, is very quickly oriented with the obsession to produce on these lands a great traditional Sangiovese, not to say natural, so the wines pass in IGT. A nature unchanged for several millennia has allowed a real microclimate where many plant and animal species can be found. Stefano and Giovanna's work continues to respect this environment. Of the 65 hectares of the property, 10 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, 8 hectares to olive trees and many plots to the production of rice and different varieties of chickpeas.
