Elodie Balme's wines
Elodie Balme now makes wine in Rasteau in the tradition of her ancestors who have been in the village for a long time. She offers us several vintages full of fruit, silky, generous, just like her. Rasteau, Roaix, Vin Doux Naturel, Côtes du Rhône...a beautiful range of wines! From the beginning, the vinifications are without artificial yeasts and without acidification. Vinification as close as possible to the nature of the grape. Elodie made her first wines in 2006. She knows wine. A family heritage since, from father to son, the Winery has grown over time to reach 28 ha today. After her studies in wine-making, Elodie spent nearly 3 years at Winery Marcel Richaud (Cairanne). |
In 2006, her father gave her 6 ha, then under conventional cultivation. Little by little, confronting her father's differences, she modified her farming approach: replacing fertilisers with contact products, organic inputs, ploughing. The wines are surprising and are the talk of the town... As a result, demand is growing and although she is in demand, Elodie Balme prefers to invest in 2008 in the construction of her own vinification cellar, all in concrete tanks. Let's listen to Elodie Balme talk about her wines"I like to feel life in my wines. Respecting nature and the terroir is the common thread in my work. Here, the climate, the soil, the grapes give the wine an incredible structure. I don't know if I make "feminine" wines, but what I am looking for is elegance and finesse, taming this power to give pleasure to those who taste them."" I like to feel life in my wines.
