We're talking to you about his Winery
Alexandre Durand is the son of Bergerac winegrowers, but it is around Faugères that he decides to settle in 2018 by creating the Winery Pèira Levada. Indeed, after having had to give up taking over from his father, Alexandre continues his quest to produce natural wines of excellence. From university training to field experience, he travels through the vineyards of France and acquires solid skills. It was in 2010, during a harvest season at Château Tour des Gendres, in his native Dordogne, that he meets Sybil Baldassare (Winery from Graine Sauvage). After passing through Italy, this young couple set off for Faugères in 2014 to take up a position as farm manager. Sybile creates his own Winery the following year. As for Alexandre, he launches himself in 2018 and creates Winery Pèira Levada. A Winery of 4 and a half hectares of Faugères PDO divided into ten small plots of vines all around the commune of Laurens, on different types of soil composed of schist, marble and limestone. |
The vineyard is run according to the principles of biodynamic and organic agriculture. All operations carried out in the vineyard give priority to maintaining the vitality of the soil with the greatest respect for life, using only substances of mineral or vegetable origin to protect it and animal manure to feed it. The grapes, picked by hand in crates, are destemmed and vatted by gravity, then vinified with their native flora, without any oenological inputs or sulphite being used. You will have understood that this is pure juice! |
