What is a fresh red wine?

Why drink chilled red wine?

Serving a red wine chilled can accentuate the wine's aromas, such as its fruity flavors. It also reduces the wine's alcohol content. Finally, in summer, it can be pleasant to drink a chilled red wine. Summer isn't just the season for whites and rosés; a chilled red wine can also be very pleasant, provided you choose the right red wine to chill.

Which red wine to drink chilled?

To serve a fresh red wine, we recommend a fruity or light wine. You can choose a Beaujolais wine or go for varietals such as Gamay or Pinot Noir, known for their fruity wines.

Serving temperature for fresh red wine

We're used to seeing most red wines served at room temperature. A full-bodied red wine like a Bordeaux is served at around 17 degrees. For a fresh wine, you can choose a serving temperature between 12 and 14 degrees.

How to refresh a red wine?

There are several non-exhaustive methods for refreshing red wine. You can leave it in the fridge for 30 minutes, depending on your preference. You can also use an ice bucket or cooling mantle to keep your wine cool.

But be careful not to chill your red wine too much, or it may lose some of its flavor! If necessary, allow your wine to warm up slightly before tasting. Don't forget to adapt our advice to your own preferences - you're the one who tastes!
