Our opinion on this wine ❤️
Golgoth 2019 - Vin de France - Château Lestignac
An immensely fine, pure, elegant, fresh and balanced wine. In short, a complete and sublime wine.
A vintage of balance, where acidity has been royally preserved. This terroir also enables us to achieve great ripeness while preserving freshness and firmness. Yields 10 hl/ha.
"The second vintage of a project begun in 2014, this cuvée has a very special flavor.
This hillside of ostrea marl, one of the greatest vine-growing terroirs in Périgord, comes from the Miocene: a white marly clay, extremely difficult to work, purely mineral, compacting, hydromorphic and chemically abrasive.
The vines are planted at 10,000 vines/ha, in the form of the Périgord"joualle", in an agro-sylvo-pastoral style. The joualle is an agricultural system that combines cereals, vines and fruit trees. Agroforestry is carried out at high density, with 500 trees/hectare providing shade and yeast complexity (fruit trees) or mycorrhizal connections through the roots, a kind of mutual plant support.
Grapes are still rare here (around one bunch per vine), given the extreme competition due to the density of planting and the very nature of the terroir.
The entire 2-hectare hillside is worked on horseback, and our gentle biodynamic farming methods are applied. "
Grape varieties: Cofermentation of Milgranet, Merille, Carmenère and Portugais Bleu.
Vinification: 35-day carbonic maceration. Aged 5 years in stoneware jars without racking.
