We tell you about his work
Maxime Barrot comes from the village of Charnay (in the land of the Golden Stones, in Beaujolais). Before meeting him, we first got to know Maxime's wines during a tasting at Yvon and Jules Métras. Indeed, during his journey and experiences, Maxime Barrot joined the Métras team for a while in 2019. A nice endorsement, you'll admit! Before that, Maxime was immersed for a long time in the wine-growing atmosphere of his region. Then, during a trip to Chile, he met Roberto Henriquez, a "pupil" of Antoine Luyt, himself a pupil of the late Marcel Lapierre (Morgon, Beaujolais). The foundations are laid: rigour, listening, feeling. This meeting is a trigger and allows the young Barrot to take one (...) and to take the plunge. |
He worked for 18 months at the Bret Brothers (Winery de la Soufrandière, Burgundy) where he learned about the technical aspects of winemaking and biodynamic practices. In 2020, he worked and perfected his knowledge at the Métras(Jules and Yvon) where there were numerous exchanges on the notion of the great Gamay terroirs and, of course, on the quality and rigor of old-fashioned winemaking (in the artisanal and noble sense of the term). In 2020, Maxime Barrot cultivates his first vines. The first juices come out in 2021. It is then his 4th vintage. A year of transition where he feels winemaker. He cultivates 3.5 ha on the southern Beaujolais terroirs. He takes root in Lachassagne, cultivates also on the village of Charnay and Rivolet. |
