Overlooking the Loire River in the Savennières-Roche aux Moines appellation, the Winery run by Tessa Laroche. Tessa crafts beautiful, refined wines with incredible length! The Chenin vineyards surround the beautiful maison , growing on blue schist, rhyolite, and phanite—rocks that release the heat accumulated during the day back into the night... The perfect exposure yields excellent ripeness without, however, relying on the famous botrytis responsible for the high sugar content of the neighboring Côteaux du Layon and Bonnezeaux wines. |
The whole estate exudes a sense of tranquility and harmony. It reflects a deep respect for rural traditions, the surrounding environment, and, of course, the soil and its vines, which range in age from 25 to 80 years. Hand-harvested with multiple selections to ensure only the healthiest grapes are retained (maximum yield of 30 hl/ha), modern equipment, a pneumatic press, and impeccable hygiene in the winery; 25% of the production is aged in oak barrels, allowing the bottles to age for up to 30 years. With Virginie Joly, Evelyne de Pontbriand, and Tessa Laroche, the revival of Savennières is also being led by women! |
