La Vigne Mouton, MâconnaisWinery , founded in 2012 and taken over in 2020TheLa Vigne Mouton wine- Winery y was founded in 2012 by Sébastien Boisseau and his wife Delphine, who settled in Bray, in the far west of the Mâconnais region. The vineyards had previously belonged to a farm that supplied its harvest to the cooperative, and the first vintage bottled at the Winery was the 2012. In 2020, Margaux Calland and Valentin Richoux took over the estate. The couple met at the Beaune School of Viticulture, and each gained experience working separately at various Burgundy estates. For several seasons, the two couples worked together to ensure a smooth transition. Vineyard and TerroirThe vineyard covers approximately 7.5 hectares, grouped within a 2-kilometer radius of the farm. It is located on the hillsides of Bray, above the Grosne Valley and not far from Cluny. Some of the vines are over 115 years old. The soils vary from one plot to another; some of the red wines come fromiron-rich clay-limestone soils. TheGrape varieties is a classic Burgundian region: Chardonnay and Aligoté for the whites, Gamay and Pinot Noir for the reds. The wines are produced under the Mâcon-Bray, Bourgogne Aligoté, and Crémant de Bourgogne appellations, as well as in Vin de France. |
Certifications and MethodsSince its founding, the Winery has been farmed using organic and biodynamic methods, under Demeter certification. Margaux and Valentin have carried on this philosophy. The grapes are harvested by hand, and fermentation takes place using native yeasts. Sulfur is used very sparingly, and some vintages are produced without added sulfites. Aging takes place partly in barrels that have previously held other wines. Iconic vintages
