We're talking to you about his Winery

The Winery Pierre Frick located in the commune of Pfaffenheim in Alsace is one of the pioneers of natural wine in France.

Winery for 12 generations, it is now run by Jean-Pierre and Chantal, along with their son Thomas. The estate comprises 12 hectares of vineyards, including a dozen predominantly limestone terroirs—Bihl, Rot Murlé, Bergweingarten, Lerchenberg, Carrières Strangenberg—and three grands crus: Steinert, Vorbourg, and Eichberg.

During the 1970s, when almost all French vineyards were tending towards industrialisation and the bludgeoning of the soil with large amounts of chemicals, Winery Pierre Frick converted to organic farming against all odds.

Then, “with the aim of enhancing the vitality of the soil, the vines, and the wines,” Jean Pierre began cultivating his vineyards using biodynamic methods in 1981 (Demeter-certified). “Applying this more holistic approach to the life of the soil and the vines, as advocated by biodynamics, has transformed our vineyard.”

All these efforts bring a better harmony in the vegetative cycle of the vines, which are thus better prepared for diseases such as grey rot. Moreover, this balance of the plant allows it to reach optimal ripeness for the grapes, resulting in juice of superb quality revealing a greater expression of the terroir.

"Biodynamics is a path to the future for agriculture in general."

In addition to the various biodynamic preparations (500 and 501) used to energize the vineyard, the Frick's use a little Bordeaux mixture to protect themselves from Mildew.

Soil tillage consists of ridging to protect against frost, followed by scraping and light scraping to aerate the soil without damaging it. This is followed by natural grassing from spring to autumn.
Once the grapes have reached maturity, they are harvested by hand by a team of local people.

"In the cellar, we don't just make wine—we nurture authentic, healthy, and vibrant wines."

At the winery, as you can see, the Fricks stick to the same philosophy: NATURE!
(Native yeasts and no additives). The wines are aged in very old 3,000-liter casks (100 years old) so as not to alter the wines’ character and to allow them to breathe (air circulation) and “sweat” (notably through the evaporation of alcohol).

Since 1999, Winery has been offering vinified, matured and bottled vintages without added sulphites. We might as well tell you that they know what they've been doing all along.
A meticulous Winery , really, that trusts nature above all.
The wines are full, fleshy, lively, always with superb tension (energy). Accessible from youth, they are also suitable for laying down.

A very beautiful Winery and superb natural wines, all that remains is to indulge oneself.
