The wines of Terre de l'Élu, Charlotte and Thomas Carsin

Land of the Chosen One, is first and foremost a couple in love, Charlotte and Thomas Carsin! Nestled in the heart of the Layon Valley, the Winery located in the terroirs of the “Anjou Noir”—that part of Anjou situated at the eastern edge of the Armorican Massif: a schist bedrock that tapers off beneath the Paris Basin, supporting volcanic soils and stones such as sandstone and quartz…

Organic vineyards

Winery vineyards Winery 20 hectares and are spread across six clusters (groups of plots) surrounding the village.
Each plot is managed according to its own specific plan: soil preparation, natural ground cover (spontaneous vegetation), more or less severe debudding, pruning as needed…

The methods used by Thomas and Charlotte reflect their passion: no synthetic products in their grassed vineyards, ploughing with a light tractor, gravity work in the cellar, foot treading and slow pressing. Watching the team work in their cellar gives off a cheerful atmosphere of schoolboys and girls.

Plant extracts are used in many forms: infusions, decoctions, liquid manure, and essential oils. Their properties are very useful for combating spring frost, stimulating soil and plant activity, strengthening the vine’s immune system, and combating fungal diseases, which helps reduce the amount of copper used in treatments. The main plants used include stinging nettle, field horsetail, willow, yarrow, chamomile, and dandelion...

Thomas Carsin is not a first experience: an agricultural engineer, he has made several wine trips to California and has worked in a champagne Winery where he has a great mastery of bubbles! Charlotte, his wife, joined him full time and passed her professional baccalaureate! She is everywhere: in the vineyard, in the cellar and works in communication.

The Carsins make high quality natural white wines with several months of maturation in barrels or amphorae. Very nice natural red wines as well, with blends of Grolleau/Gamay/Cabernet or single-variety Cabernet Franc.

We are pleased to collaborate on the creation of two exclusive wines: Spirit of Grolleau and Charmant Chenin, a 100% Charlotte wine!
