Calce : 1 village of Roussillon = 3 natural winemakers
Calce, a village of 213 inhabitants in Roussillon. Some warriors of the vine are sheltered there. Among them, Jean-Philippe Padié, Tom Lubbe and Raphaël Baissas de Chastenet. Let's get to know the village and the winegrowers!
Situated in the south-east of the Corbières chain, in contact with the Roussillon plain, Calce is a corner of paradise for nature drinkers. Away from the main communication routes, it can be reached by winding but nice roads. A situation which one finds in the village with its streets which leave in the zig then in the zag. But Calce, you deserve it! And to meet winemakers of the next calibre too.Jean-Philippe Padié / Winery Padié
7 grape varieties, about thirty micro-parcels and as many aromatic notes. This is what allows Jean-Phi (to his friends) to play on complexity to deliver 4 great flagship vintages. Here, the vine is managed with complete respect for the soil: horse ploughing, very low yields (around 15hl/ha). The work of a madman who thrives on biodynamics, of course! The result is worthy of his commitment and shines in Calce and far beyond. "Wines of stone, fruit and time" as he says! We're writing it down.Jean Philippe Padié
Tom Lubbe / Matassa
Fifteen hectares to be pampered and accompanied according to the precepts of biodynamics. The style of Tom Lubbe, a South African who has been a wine lover, is refined year after year on these magnificent terroirs which reach an altitude of 600 metres. The whites and the reds are precise, with intensity, freshness and depth. These are highly sought-after wines.> Winery Matassa
Raphaël Baissas de Chastenet / Vandal Wine - Nada
Raphaël has always had this interest in vines and wine. As a child, he helped his paternal grandfather with the cellar and pruning on the land of the Col de la Dona where he is settled today. The grapes are picked by hand and elaborated without any chemical products, the grain is selected to get the best out of it. The wine is aged in vats, without blending or filtration. The yeasts are indigenous. Nada mas! Today Vandal-Wine / Nada has grown and is expanding; Raphaël manages new grape varieties and 7 hectares worked in complete freedom!> Vandal Wine - Nada
