The Winery Poppy by Grégoire Rousseau

Grégoire Rousseau 's Winery Coquelicot is located in the Périgord, at the western limit of the Bergerac appellation, near the Côtes de Castillon. The 9 ha of Winery are mainly planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc on a clay-limestone soil.

Natural wines, the fruit of the earth's work

Grégoire Rousseau has, from the beginning, oriented himself towards a work respectful of nature, of the soil, of the notion of terroir. He has, of course, converted the entire Winery to organic farming. He controls the yields and looks for healthy, beautiful and concentrated grapes. This work is characterized by beautiful maturities.

Silky and elegant organic wines

However, the singularity of Winery could be the notion of maturing in barrels (sometimes new). There is here a work, a balance, a particular touch for almost "silky" wines. Is it the geographical position of Winery that explains the finesse and elegance of the wines, on grapes reputed to be difficult? In short, it is a meticulous work that balances the notion of terroir, grape varieties and maturation... without forgetting the "BUVABILITY" that is so important to us! 

Grégoire Rousseau has given us the pleasure to elaborate "Between Earth and Earth", an Exclusive Cuvée for Petites Caves. A 100% merlot from 30 year old vines, half of which are aged in jars and half in demi-muids. A marvel!
