| You’ve never heard of Aveyron wines?! Try Rols—you’re in for a treat! Based in Conques inthe Aveyron for several decades, Patrick Rols is now reaping the rewards of his hard work as a vineyard worker and innovator. On the steep slopes of the Dourdou—which had been abandoned after the phylloxera epidemic—Patrick has created a meticulously tended vineyard, having cleared and replanted the land starting in 2001, high above this beautiful medieval village famous for its magnificent abbey. It’s a return to his roots for this farmer’s son, who used to accompany his father to the family’s small vineyard—and, above all, a change of direction following a stint at the Chamber of Agriculture. | First harvest in 2005. This big and solid gaillard walks his vines on 6 hectares planted with merlot, cabernet and syrah but also chardonnay and chenin, with a passion for Nature and well done things. Just like us, in fact! Long live Rols, long live the natural Aveyron! |
