Mix of Cotton 2019 - EXCLUSIVE at Petites Caves

STORY: at the end of May 2020, at the end of the first confinement and for our first outing, we go to Pierre Cotton and Marine Bonnet. It's very hot, already 29° in the shade, and we rush into the cool cellar for a full tour. A magnificent tasting. And here comes, blind, this O.V.N.I. presented by the owner of the place! We are lost, no reference, no comparison possible. Of course, it is a blend inadvertently made by Pierre Cotton, a mix of Chardonnay and Gamay. STOP, we stop everything! The story is written, it's our Cuvée Exclusive.
TASTING: A nose marked by ripe white fruit (it is the chardonnay). A full, greedy mouth. A sort of ballad between this white fruit and fresh red berries too. Not very structured, but without being flat at all, this is a wine with vitality and dynamism. The finish is amazing, with a competitive length. This will be more of a meal wine than an aperitif Beaujolais for the moment.
Further information:
VINES: over 60 years old on granite for the Gamay and 10 years old on clay-limestone soils for the Chardonnay. Vines grown organically.
GRAPE VARIETIES: Gamay & Chardonnay
VINIFICATION: whole bunches for the Gamay and direct pressing for the Chardonnay, all blended in 50/50 oak barrels!
AGEING: 12 months.
PRODUCTION: one barrel, 220 bottles exclusively with and for Petites Caves !
