The Cidrerie du Léguer of Cédric Le Bloas

Cédric Le Bloas settled in Lannion, in the Côtes d'Armor, where he founded La Cidrerie du Léguer. Natural and precise ciders and perries.

Cédric Le Bloas: nature lover

After studying to be an agricultural engineer and working as a boss in his company, Cédric Le Bloas wanted to get closer to the land and initially thought of producing wine. After having considered moving to the Loire or around Bordeaux, Eric and his wife finally decided to return to the country, to Brittany, to start producing cider, between Lannion and the Léguer, a coastal river that flows through the Trégor.

In the tradition of natural wine makers, Cédric wants to offer pure, vibrant and healthy ciders and perries.

The Orchards of the Cidrerie du Léguer

The different plots are cultivated according to the common sense of the farmers, listening to the earth, without brutality. The orchards, with their granite subsoil, are thus maintained according to the principles oforganic farming, and even more so, since no chemicals are used.

The trees are pruned, trimmed and the grass is mown several times a year. These are the only operations in the orchard carried out by Cedric, with nature doing the rest.

Cédric Le Bloas grows a wide variety of apples: bitter, sweet-bitter, sweet, tart, and both new and more traditional varieties. Cédric “likes a mix,” as he puts it.

Organic and natural ciders

At harvest time, several rounds are made to gather—by hand, of course— the apples and pears that have fallen naturally (between October and December). The fruit is meticulously sorted to remove any rotten apples before pressing. The pressing is done very slowly to extract the finest aromas and bring out the full aromatic finesse. After a slow, cold fermentation in the cellars, the juice completes its fermentation in the bottle to achieve natural secondary fermentation. This method results in exceptionally fine bubbles, giving the cider its full body and structure.
