A family Winery near Colmar on granite soil

By offering natural Alsatian wines at low prices, Léo Dirringer is gradually taking over Winery Alsace from his parents, the Ruhlmann-Dirringers.

The family Winery of 14 ha is located in Dambach-la-Ville, a few kilometers north of Colmar. The soil here is rather atypical for Alsatian vineyards as it contains a large granite formation. The Winery has been worked by the family for 4 generations and it is therefore natural that Léo took a BTS in wine making. He then went on to study at the Saint-Mont School of Oenology in Switzerland. During this course he discovered natural wine, in particular with the papess of Swiss wines, Marie-Thérèse Chappaz.

Natural wines, "pure juice" from Alsace without any input

After completing his training, Léo joined his parents in 2017 to work at Winery . He brought with him new ideas and aspirations. He thus became part of the Winery introducing wines that reflected his own style. On his own, he produces “pure juice” Alsatian wines—without additives or added sulfites. Under his leadership, the Winery converted to organic farming in 2016 and has, for some time now, been incorporating biodynamic practices into the vineyard.

It’s been several years since we first had the opportunity to taste Léo Dirringer’s wines, and we’re very pleased to finally be able to offer them to you.
