Alexandre Durand is the son of winemakers from Bergerac, but he decided to settle near Faugères in 2018, where he founded Winery Levada. Indeed, after having to give up the opportunity to take over his father’s estate, Alexandre continued his quest to produce natural wines of the highest quality. Through a combination of academic training and hands-on experience, he traveled through France’s vineyards and acquired solid expertise. It was in 2010, during a harvest season at Château des Gendres in his native Dordogne, that he met Sybil Baldassare (Winery la Graine Sauvage). After spending some time in Italy, the young couple settled in the Faugères area in 2014, where he took on the role of estate manager. Sybil founded her own Winery following Winery . Alexandre, for his part, launched his own venture in 2018 and founded the Winery Levada Winery . This 4. Winery AOP Faugères Winery is divided into ten small vineyard plots scattered around the town of Laurens, on various soil types composed of schist, marble, and limestone. |
The vineyard is run according to the principles of biodynamic and organic agriculture. All operations carried out in the vineyard give priority to maintaining the vitality of the soil with the greatest respect for life, using only substances of mineral or vegetable origin to protect it and animal manure to feed it. The grapes, picked by hand in crates, are destemmed and vatted by gravity, then vinified with their native flora, without any oenological inputs or sulphite being used. You will have understood that this is pure juice! |
