The Wineryof Athénaïs de Béru
The heirs of the Comtes de Béru have succeeded in their challenge: to transcend tradition by offering Chablis and Chablis 1er Cru wines that are modern and racy. Under the aegis ofAthénaïs de Béru, a tall, friendly blonde woman, Winery radically changed its approach from 2004. The use of sulfur is mastered and the result is there: straight and limpid cuvées, pure fruit, finesse and elegance. Previously, the Béru family had lived solely from the vine since the 17th century, in tradition and continuity. Phylloxera took its toll and it was in 1987 that the Count of Beru, father of Athénaïs, decided to take over the vineyard in his own way by replanting in the first instance. |
Faced with the quality of the terroirs surrounding this pretty château, the evidence is obvious to this energetic and sensitive young woman, suddenly Winemaker at the death of her father: give to Caesar what belongs to him! Organic farming and biodynamics were the natural steps to take. Working the soil with a horse and light ploughing, banning herbicides and fertilisers, using plant teas, in order to rediscover a varied flora and fauna that will give the vine all its capacity to defend itself naturally.
